After the turbulent times we’ve been through, this year has proven to be more hopeful in many ways. But even though things are looking up, we have to acknowledge the fact that COVID-19 and the challenges it poses are still a part of our lives.
The regulations of the Nationwide Lockdown have relaxed to such a point that most of us can go about our daily routines and activities as usual. The third wave has emerged in Durban, Gauteng, Free State and the Eastern Cape and it is now more than ever that we should remember to wash our hands frequently, wear our masks and remember social distancing.
That said, we should not forget our colleagues and the fellow South Africans we have lost during this time. With variant strains of COVID-19 having emerged in countries like India recently, as well as right here in South Africa, we should remain conscious of the threat that still looms overhead.
The vaccine administration process is under way in South Africa for healthcare workers battling this virus. The next step in the phase will be individuals over 60 along with the remaining healthcare workers. We can be extremely proud of the great medical advancements we have come to see and enjoy over the past 12 months. This is just another testament of the lengths to which medical professionals are going to improve our patents’ quality of life.
